Jessica Gomez, Founder/CEO of Rogue Valley Microdevices, Inc.
In a world where competition is global and having a skilled workforce can mean the difference between failure and success, where is the U.S. technology industry heading, and how can corporations and educational institutions partner to create training opportunities to build the workforce needed to spur innovation? Jessica Gomez will share her story and provide her perspective on the future of work.
With just one woman leading a Fortune 500 semiconductor company, women CEOs in the microelectronics industry are a rarity. Latina CEOs in this field are even more scarce. As founder of Rogue Valley Microdevices, a MEMS foundry based in Southern Oregon, Jessica Gomez is an outlier on many levels. As a teenager, she overcame a year of homelessness to finish high school and earn a two-year college degree. In seven short years, Jessica went from junior lab operator at a semiconductor manufacturer to founder of an advanced manufacturing company by age twenty-six. Jessica is dedicated to supporting economic development. She serves on the Oregon Institute of Technology Board of Trustees and was appointed by the Governor to serve on the Oregon Healthcare Committee and the Oregon Business Development Commission, among others. Jessica was recently named to the Women of Influence list by the Portland Business Journal and in 2020 she received the Executive of the Year award from the Portland Business Journal, MEMS World Summit award, and SEMI Foundation Spotlight on Women award.
